Christchurch Surf Lessons

Christchurch Surf Lessons is a professional surf school based at Sumner Beach in Christchurch, New Zealand, helping people of different ages and experience levels discover the enjoyment of surfing. From first-time learners and families to developing surfers looking to improve their skills, our programs are designed around practical coaching, ocean safety and confidence in the water. With more than 25 years of surf coaching experience across New Zealand and a strong connection to the local coastline, Christchurch Surf Lessons provides a range of ways to get involved in surfing. Our activities include 2-hour surf lessons, private surf lessons, women’s surf programs, kids and youth programs, school and group experiences, surfboard and wetsuit rentals, surf camps and guided surf tours. Lessons take place in suitable coastal locations according to the program and conditions, with Sumner Beach serving as our main Christchurch base. Participants can learn essential surfing techniques including board handling, paddling, positioning, wave awareness and standing on the board while developing greater confidence in the ocean.
